UNSCHOOLING FOR ALL TYPES OF FAMILIES
Some people think that unschooling is just for WEIRD folks — those from a context and culture that is:
- Western/White
- Educated
- Industrialized
- Rich and
- Democratic
NOT TRUE!
Join me for this inspiring conversation where I talk with Yolanda Williams (Parenting Decolonized) and Domari Dickinson (Positive & Purposeful Parenting) about their experiences as single parents, women of color, and working moms who support their children’s self-directed learning.
In this workshop, we discuss:
- Our personal journeys of deschooling and unschooling
- How unschooling is empowering for BIPOC folks
- How to align our lifestyle and work with unschooling values
- How to find community to support our unschooling journey…and more
We don’t need a need one-size-fits-all approach that only works for the privileged. We need creative solutions and imagination that can make unschooling more accessible to ALL types of families. Unschooling requires us to think outside the box to include self-directed learning centers, child-led programs and “schools,” childcare, community centers, help from extended family & friends, co-ops, working from home, parents working different shifts, entrepreneurship, etc.
