Parenting & Unschooling the Teen Years

The teenage years are often painted as a challenging time for parents and young people alike. Angst, power struggles, rebellion, risky behavior, sexual experimentation, and emotional drama are just some of the common teenage tropes. Sweet, loving children seem to transform into snarky hormone monsters overnight.

Our attitude towards our growing children may change too. When they were younger, it was wonderful to watch them play all day, but now as they are nearing “adulthood” we suddenly feel stressed that they will be unprepared for life. I’ve found that unschooling during the teen years is more challenging than when my kids were little. It exposes how much deschooling I still need to do.

In this workshop, we discuss:

If you’re looking for support, encouragement, and inspiration as you parent and unschool your teens and tweens, this workshop is for you.

While changes are to be expected during the teen years, many of the stereotypes and fears we have associated with this stage in life are NOT inevitable. By empowering them with connectioncompetency, and choice, parenting teens/tweens can be a season that we enjoy instead of dread.
