Untigering is detoxing from being tiger parented & healing from authoritarian, power-over relationships.
When we’ve been brought up in authoritarian parenting, we can easily become:

But we don’t have to stay that way.
Each week of this small group program is designed to address one of the above points so that you can shift from harshness to gentleness, criticism to compassion, fear to courage, and resignation to radical self-love — no matter how you were raised.

Meet Your Facilitator

Iris Chen: Parent Coach & Founder of Untigering Movement
As a recovering tiger cub and tiger mother, I know what it’s like to be afraid…
Afraid of my dad, afraid of making mistakes, afraid of being weak, afraid of disappointing others, afraid of feeling out of control (or feeling anything, really).
For years, that fear caused me to be intensely critical and controlling of myself and my poor children. It wasn’t until I saw the deep harm I was causing that I began untigering—
I acknowledged and grieved the harm that I experienced as a child. I faced the lies, wounds, and fears that had unconsciously driven me. I became reacquainted with my true self. And I learned to offer her the unconditional love that she deserved.
In healing myself, I know that I am healing my lineage.
As an mother, author, activist, and coach, my work centers on healing from power-over relationships and systems through an anti-oppression and decolonial framework. It is my mission to inspire generational and cultural transformation, especially among Asian communities.
Because I have personally experienced the powerful transformation that comes from untigering, I’m so excited to bring you this life-changing series.

The Curriculum
Untiger Your Self is a holistic journey that explores your:
PAST (childhood wounds & intergenerational patterns)
PRESENT (self-knowledge & healing practices)
FUTURE (self-alignment & generational change)
- Introduce ourselves and share our stories
- Establish community agreements and program expectations
- Engage in community building activities
- Identify core wound from childhood and learn practices to address & tend to the wound
- Establish a safe, grounded, loving relationship with your inner child & create healing that ripples out to other relationships
- Rewrite the black-and-white paradigms of behavior (there’s no good or bad behavior) & recognize that behavior is communication
- Learn how to understand, validate, & communicate the needs behind your behaviors
- Explore vulnerable and traditionally ‘frowned upon’ emotions such as anger, sadness, & shame in a supportive community
- Develop the capacity to welcome all emotions & build the emotional literacy to decode your feelings
- Learn how to set boundaries in ways that are rooted in self-love & self-responsibility
- Learn how to ask for and receive help to prevent burn out, knowing that you deserve love & care.
- Cultivate the courage to venture out & create your own life, even if it contradicts conventional ways of living
- Live your own version of success, knowing that the best way to honor your ancestors is to build an aligned, fulfilling life
This curriculum is designed to address the specific cultural norms and traumas that Asian women face and integrate the core of our cultural wisdom to strengthen the 3 core SELF pillars above.
These 6 weeks will lay the foundation for transformation and give you tools for a lifetime. And you will get to do it all in a beautiful community with other untigering Asian women.

- 90 minute live calls every Thursday at 1pm PST / 4pm EST. Calls include a workshop portion AND somatic portion to integrate the learning
- Curated weekly “homeplay” for you to apply, practice, and ingrain the teaching
- Intentional community with other Asian women where you can be vulnerably heard and held
You will also receive direct feedback & coaching from us during the sessions. This is an incredible value.

FAQs
Untiger Your Self starts on August 7th and ends on September 11th. Calls are every Thursday at 1pm PST / 4pm EST for 6 weeks.
Replays of the meetings are always available for those who are unable to make it live.
First, a loving reminder that you aren’t broken and there’s nothing wrong with you that needs to be fixed. We invite you to see your healing not as a problem to solve but a daily practice to embody. It's ongoing work!
What this program can provide are paradigm shifts and practical tools to catalyze and facilitate your personal growth. You will build a solid foundation that will deepen your healing and support you for years to come.
This healing journey may be painful as you come face to face to tender wounds, but it’s pain that can heal rather than harm. We invite you to join us if you’re open and ready for this kind of vulnerability.
As a facilitator, I will do my best to provide a space that fosters self-trust and self-attunement where YOU are your own expert. Please be gentle with yourself. Receive only what serves you. Don’t violate your own boundaries. Take the time you need to move at a pace that feels good. I want this work to be sustainable for you and will be here to support you.
